For ASF, Science is more than 9 to 5 in a lab. It is being on the water through rain, wind, and sometimes travelling on flooded rivers. Patience is required when waiting out high winds in order to deploy and pick up tracking devices at sea.

For centuries no one knew where wild Atlantic salmon travelled at sea. Did they follow food, or migrate to specific areas of the ocean? 2012 may be an important year, as for the first time both exits of the Gulf of St. Lawrence are wired to identify Atlantic salmon with ASF's acoustic tags.
