The Prince Edward Island Council of the Atlantic Salmon Federation works to restore salmon runs through being involved in many of the Island's important issues. These include:

  • Ending fish kills due to pesticide runoff
  • Reducing soil runoff through improving agricultural practices
  • Improving island road-building techniques by involvement with fish passage and culvert issues
  • Sampling PEI streams in order to discover the true extent of Atlantic salmon recolonization
  • Working with watershed groups and affiliates to promote trusteeship of the island streams and rivers
  • Working with government to improve communication on freshwater issues
  • Carrying out the ASF Friends Program that plays a significant role in island schools
