The Prince Edward Island Council of the Atlantic Salmon Federation works to restore salmon runs through being involved in many of the Island's important issues. These include: - Ending fish kills due to pesticide runoff
- Reducing soil runoff through improving agricultural practices
- Improving island road-building techniques by involvement with fish passage and culvert issues
- Sampling PEI streams in order to discover the true extent of Atlantic salmon recolonization
- Working with watershed groups and affiliates to promote trusteeship of the island streams and rivers
- Working with government to improve communication on freshwater issues
- Carrying out the ASF Friends Program that plays a significant role in island schools
