ASF Biologist Jonathan Carr has been involved with the Magaguadavic Research programs for more than a decade. He has also researched aspects of hydro dam fish passage, the leakage of young fish from freshwater aquaculture facilities, and the importance of other diadromous fish such as alewives and eels.
Tracking Escapee Farmed Salmon
Farmed salmon in Cobsccok Bay, Maine were fitted with transmitters, and released to monitor their movements, to determine behaviour and the potential for recapture following salmon farm cage failures. Experiments were conducted both in mid-winter and in spring.
Proceedings of a 2004 Acid Rain conference at ASF
Atlantic salmon in Maine and Nova Scotia are impacted by acid rain. This 2004 Conference hosted at ASF reviewed the state of the issue, and the potential for mitigation of the effects.
Magaguadavic Research Report to 1997
The Atlantic Salmon Federation has been monitoring the Magaguadavic in southwest New Brunswick as an index river of wild salmon and farmed salmon interactions since 1992. In addition, ASF has been working to restore the river's wild salmon runs. A Report on the first five years of work on the river.

Fish Friends Thrive With Help of Volunteers February 19th, 2010
Hundreds of volunteers throughout the range of wild Atlantic salmon are helping the Atlantic Salmon Federation (ASF) deliver the time-tested, much acclaimed Fish Friends program to almost 700 classrooms this year.
