Unsustainable in the Ocean

Environmentally AND economically, open cage salmon farming cannot be sustained in the ocean environment. Destruction of ocean habitat, interference with other commercially important marine activities, impacts on wild Atlantic salmon and other species, and the costs to government and taxpayers all show that the industry needs to change.

THE ALTERNATIVE: Removing salmon aquaculture from the ocean to land-based closed-containment facilities, where better than 99% of wastes are removed and the source of interference and and infection is removed from the ocean is in everyone's best interest - including the companies involved.
