John Thompson

John was born in Montreal and lived in Greenwich, CT, and Toronto where he now resides. His career was with IBM, where he became CEO of IBM Canada and later, Executive Vice-Chair of the IBM Corporation in New York and a member of its Board of Directors. On retiring from IBM, he became Chair of TD Bank, Vice-Chair of Royal Philips NV, and a Director of Thomson Reuters.  He was also Chancellor of Western University, Trustee of Sick Children’s Hospital and Director of the Canadian Conference Board and Business Council. He was appointed an Officer of the Order of Canada in 2012 for his leadership in the information technology sector. He is married to Melinda, and they have 3 children and 7 grandchildren. He is an avid fly fisherman and member of the Restigouche Salmon Club.
