The Atlantic Salmon Federation (ASF) is an international conservation organization founded in 1948 to conserve and restore wild Atlantic salmon and their ecosystems. ASF is headquartered in St. Andrews, NB, Canada and maintains offices in Brunswick Maine, Quebec, and Atlantic Canada. Through ASF’s membership and affiliated volunteer network, the organization represents more than 25,000 individuals who share ASF’s commitment to wild rivers and wild salmon.
Overview
The Quebec Program Director (PD) position is a diverse role that serves as ASF’s point person for wild Atlantic salmon conservation and restoration in Quebec. Primary activities include leading the development and implementation of conservation activities and partnerships across the province’s Atlantic salmon watersheds, as well as carrying out evidence-based advocacy, and community engagement. The PD reports to the Executive Director of Regional Programs and works with all ASF departments to deliver the organization’s strategic objectives. The PD also serves as a liaison and advisor to ASF’s regional council and affiliate organizations in the province. The successful candidate will work closely with ASF’s Executive Director of Regional Programs and other ASF staff located throughout eastern North America.

Competencies, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
This is a bilingual role, requiring strong written and verbal communication skills in both English and French. Professionalism is a must as this role will be representative of the organization. The successful candidate should possess knowledge of Atlantic salmon life history, biology, and fisheries, as well as threats and the status of the species in Quebec. Must possess an understanding of Atlantic salmon management and social dimensions.

The successful candidate must reside within Quebec and will be required to travel throughout the province regularly. A reliable personal vehicle is required. The ability to work both independently and with a team is essential.
Education and Experience: Qualifications for this position would be acquired through either post-secondary education, supplemented by progressive work experience, or an equivalent combination of education, background and experience (including volunteer).
Compensation: ASF offers a competitive salary and benefits package including RRSP, vacation, sick leave, and health/dental coverage. The salary range for the position is $64,000 – 96,000 and determined based on education and experience of the successful candidate.
