The Atlantic Salmon Federation is delighted to announce that Bill Taylor, former ASF President, has been named the recipient of the 2024 Lee Wulff Salmon Conservation Award. This prestigious honor, named after legendary conservationist Lee Wulff, celebrates individuals whose work has significantly advanced the protection and preservation of wild Atlantic salmon.
For nearly three decades, Bill Taylor has been at the forefront of ASF’s mission to protect wild Atlantic salmon. His legacy includes efforts to close commercial salmon fisheries in Quebec, Newfoundland, and Labrador, safeguarding thousands of salmon annually. In the U.S., he played a critical role in the Penobscot River Restoration Project, a $63 million initiative to reopen hundreds of miles of essential salmon habitat. Taylor also led groundbreaking agreements with Greenland’s fishing industry, reducing the harvest of migratory salmon and benefiting salmon populations across North America and Europe.
