Stephen O'Brien Jr

Steve is a passionate fly fisherman who has traveled the world in pursuit of Atlantic salmon, having caught and released salmon in Canada, Ireland, Scotland, and Russia. A longtime board member of Bonefish Tarpon Trust, he has co-led their Artist of the Year program since its inception in 2010. One of the youngest members elected to ASF’s board, he has served in this capacity for several years.

A fourth-generation sportsman with a refined collector’s eye, Steve brings over thirty years of experience to the Sporting Art field. Steve has a reputation for bringing fresh ideas to the table and is known for his savvy branding and marketing. His niche art advisory, gallery, book publishing, and auction businesses have come to set the industry standard. Steve’s firm, Copley Fine Art Auctions, LLC, has established dozens of world-record prices for sporting paintings, including works by A.B. Frost, Ogden Pleissner, and A.L. Ripley. Having published several books on decoys and sporting art, he is widely acknowledged as an ambassador and the “go to” specialist in these specialized fields. He most recently co-authored Elmer Crowell: Father of American Bird Carving, a monograph nominated for Historic New England’s Annual Book Award.
