Louis Shecanapish-Tardif

Louis was born and raised in the far North of Quebec, a place that shaped both his identity and lifelong passion for hunting and fishing guiding. Through his Indigenous Naskapi heritage, he learned the deep values of respect and harmony between humans, animals, and nature. From his father, a world-renowned outfitter and guide, he inherited a strong love for the wilderness and the traditions of the North.

From a very young age, Louis spent summers on the George River, learning the fundamentals of guiding by observing and assisting his father before guiding his first clients at age sixteen. A few years later, their outfitting lodge was established on the majestic Leaf River. Today, having taken over his father’s business, Louis is proud to welcome guests and help them discover the extraordinary richness of Northern Quebec: endless untouched landscapes, migrating caribou herds, Atlantic salmon and brook trout fishing, and unforgettable wildlife encounters. The North is not only a passion for Louis—it is a way of life.
